Commissioning of 10th Principal at Catherine McAuley

Ms Laetitia Richmond, the 10th Principal in the history of Catherine McAuley, was commissioned at a special Mass held on Friday 29th August in addition to our annual Mercy Day Mass which was also held on this day.

Ms Richmond was commissioned in front of the whole school community and invited guests including Sr Catherine Ryan, Congregational Leader of Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, Sr Mary Louise Petro, Congregational Vicar, other Sisters of Mercy; Past Principals of Catherine McAuley including Ms Margery Jackman and Sr Barbara McDonough; Mr Greg Whitby, Executive Director of Education, Parramatta Catholic Education Office, Ms Sophie Ryan, Director System Performance, Parramatta CEO and Mr Ian Smith, Director of Evangelisation and Religious Education, Parramatta CEO.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Arthur Bridge, Father Paul Cahill, Father John Paul Escarlan and Deacon Leon. During the commissioning Ms Richmond was presented with a bible symbolizing the importance of scripture within the Catherine McAuley community and our two school captains presented her with a Catherine McAuley candle which had been lit from the school candle, a symbol of taking the light of Christ into the world as Ms Richmond continues her journey at Catherine McAuley. Finally our immediate former Principal, Ms Jackman, presented Ms Richmond with the Irish Crystal from the House of Catherine McAuley symbolizing the passing on of the Catherine McAuley story and tradition and Sr Catherine Ryan presented a Mercy Cross.
